The Head of the Unit is Corporate Legal Counselor (CLC) who must be a master degree holder and a registered advocate of the High Court of Tanzania. For the time being, the section has one staff who is the head of the Unit.
Functions of the Unit to the Institute are as follows:
(i) To advise the Director General and the Institute at large on legal matters
(ii) To render legal services to the Institute;
(iii) To register all property of the Institute;
(iv) To maintain all legal documents of the Institute;
(v) To appear and represent the Institute in Court in case of the Institute being sued;
(vi) To review the Institution’s Act and Regulations and recommends to the Director General for their amendments;
(vii) To formulate and recommend reviews of contracts in which the Institute is a party; and
(viii) To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Director General from time to time.
(ix) To perform all neccessary works that engage the Council as a secretary to the Council.
(x) Any other duties that require attention of a Corporate Counselor.
